On the morning of the earthquake, seismic shocks centered in central Panama tore through the agrarian community of Churubé, located in the El Caño subdivision of Natá de los Caballeros, Coclé Province.
While reinforced urban structures suffered minimal damage, rural adobe, non-reinforced masonry, and timber homes suffered catastrophic fractures. The C.E.B.G. Simeón Valderrama—the sole educational institution serving the community’s elementary children—was deemed structurally condemned. Five rural farming families found their galvanized roofs caved in and outer walls fractured beyond safe habitation.
Verified field reports and structural damage assessments documented by our regional coordinators in Churubé of Natá.
